THE REACH
WELCOME TO THE REACH!
Thank you for choosing our home! We hope your stay is awesome and you enjoy your vacation. We are always open to any feedback you may have, so feel free to send an email to us: info@TheReachHouse.com, and don’t forget to “like” us on Facebook: The Reach, A Cozy Cape Cod Retreat.
Here are a few helpful notes…
NEW STUFF: After an off-season of final touches, the significant renovations to our “little cottage” are now complete. We are hopeful to begin a full-scale kitchen remodel to be completed for summer of 2023, as long as materials are easily sourceable. This remains to be seen.
Master Bathroom (new in 2020): Enjoy the new master bathroom! Now that the shower glass has been installed, just a quick footnote. Please do not use any cleaners on the glass, like Windex or Fantastic, or other bathroom cleaning products. These will damage the glass. On the advice of our installer, a simple wipe down with a squeegee after each day’s use will get the glass sparkling clean. In the off-season we will treat the glass with an approved long-term cleaning/coating agent.
Lights: We have installed many new exterior lights. Even we are still trying to figure out which switches operate which lights! For the sake of our neighbors, please remember to extinguish all exterior lights when not in use, and especially when you turn-in for the evening.
Owner’s Closet: We have a small owner’s closet next to the bathroom, so that we can secure and store our personal items without those items getting in your way during your stay.
The Bonus Room (over the garage):
We have outfitted this added leisure space for summer of 2021. This room has a high-top table for puzzles and games, and some comfy seating. If you use this space, please make sure that the windows are closed when the room is not in use.
Washer/Dryer: The washer and dryer are in the basement. We hope to relocate them to their new space in the first-floor laundry closet for the summer of 2023. When operating the washer, please turn the blue water lever on the wall to “on” (down position) before using and to “off” (up position) after using. The washer seems to work best in the Normal Cycle using any water temperature you prefer. Please empty the dryer lint screen after each use.
Dishwasher: Please use the dishwasher detergent that is provided. As a courtesy to others, when your stay has come to an end, please make sure that the dishwasher is empty and that all of the clean dishes have been put in the cabinets.
Wireless Internet Service (provided by Xfinity): The WiFi network is 355Massasoit. The password to access the network is eastham355. Due to frequent power surges in Eastham, the router/modem may get knocked offline. If you are having difficulty accessing the internet, please unplug the router/modem, wait a few moments, and plug them back in. You may also need to re-boot your own personal device. We have also added Google WiFi Mesh to improve your internet experience throughout the home.
"NEW" YouTubeTV Streaming Service: Our home is now equipped with a ROKU streaming device that will allow you to access network television options through YouTubeTV’s streaming service. Simply turn on the TV/Roku device with the small Roku remote by pressing the red button at the top of the remote. At the Roku menu screen, using the purple cross button in the middle of the remote, select the icon for YouTubeTV. The volume controls are on the side of the remote. To go back to the last screen you were in, select the arrow button on the remote. The YouTubeTV app is fairly intuitive, but don’t hesitate to reach out to us if you need a little assistance. Send a quick text to 609-731-4687 and one of us will respond as soon as possible.
VERY IMPORTANT: If you choose to access your own personal premium services, such as Amazon Prime, Disney+, Hulu, or NETFLIX, you must remove your logins and passwords at the end of your stay. WE WILL NOT BE RESPONSILBLE FOR CHARGES YOU MAY INCUR BY FUTURE TENANTS WHO MAY ACCESS YOUR ACCOUNT.
Operating the DVD Player: We have a nice selection of DVDs in the entertainment center’s cabinet. The DVD player may be accessed using the SONY DVD remote. Before you can use the DVD player, you must use the LG television remote to change the “input” signal. On the LG remote, select the MENU button; using the arrows, and scroll over and select “INPUT” icon. Choose AV1 and the TV is now ready to receive the signal from the DVD player. When you are done watching a DVD, please return the input setting to HDMI2.
VERY IMPORTANT: If you or your children use your game system with our TV, PLEASE return all of the cables and settings to their original positions.
Garbage and Recycling: There is a shed on the outside of the new garage for the garbage cans. Please make sure that it is kept tightly closed as animals will try to get at the garbage. Pick up is on Tuesday and Saturday. There is no need to bring the cans to the road; they will take them right out of the shed.
Recyclables are collected on Fridays between the hours of 7:30 AM and 7:30 PM. There is a small shed on the side of the garage with three recycling cans. Place all plastic, glass, tin and aluminum together (co-mingled) in a plastic bag inside the can. The cans must be lined with a plastic trash bag (provided) or the recycling vendor will not make the pick-up. Unfortunately, our recycling vendor no longer collects newspaper, cardboard, and mixed paper during the summer months. If you would like to recycle these items independently, you may take them to the transfer station at 555 Old Orchard Road. There is a $10 fee to access the facility. Otherwise, place these items in with regular trash. See the Intonti Waste Management flyer in the back of this book for more details.
Beach Chairs, Boogie Boards, Coolers, etc.: If you need additional beach chairs, boogie boards, beach umbrella, sand toys, beach carts, or a cooler, feel free to borrow ours. They are in the basement.
Bicycles: We have a few old bikes in the basement. Feel free to borrow them, but keep in mind they are well worn and may need air in the tires. There is a bike pump in the basement if needed. Bikes in better condition can be rented from a number of local bike shops. Massachusetts law requires all bike riders to wear helmets. There are also (3) bike locks in the basement. The combos are: 5-1-2-1 -or- 7-7-6-3 -or- 2-5-8-3
Outside Shower: We have installed a “rainfall” showerhead in the outside shower along with a handheld shower head. Enjoy! We have also installed a new on-demand hot water heater which will supply plenty of hot water throughout your stay. When you are using the outside shower, you may smell a faint odor that is similar to natural gas or propane. Our installer has assured us that this is just the system exhausting products of combustion and very small amounts of un-burned natural gas.
Well Water/Septic System: Cape Cod has a very fragile ecosystem. Please use as much water as you need; however, try to conserve water when you can. Do not place anything other than toilet tissue in the toilet. Feminine products or flushable wipes may cause significant damage to the system.
Brochures: Brochures may be picked up at the Eastham Visitors Center or the Salt Pond Visitors Center. If you find something you liked, leave a brochure in the caddy on the kitchen counter for our next guests.
Barbecue Grill: VERY IMPORTANT. Prior to using the gas grill, please make sure that the grill is positioned at least 24” away from the new vinyl railings. Heat from the grill can damage the railings and could cause a fire. After each use, make sure to scrape the grill grates with the grill brush and turn off both the controls and the propane tank. There are additional propane tanks next to the recycling shed by the garage. If you need to change the grill tank, please turn the spent tank upside down to indicate to future guests that it is empty. Thanks!
Lawn Maintenance: DiSilva Landscaping will maintain the grass cutting and trimming during the summer months.
When you Leave: We would love it if you would sign our guest book and take a complimentary coffee mug for each member of your party (up to 6 per family, please). They are located in a cardboard box on the white table next to the washer in the basement.
This year, more than ever before, please make sure the house is clean and neat upon your departure.
And…
Please completely empty the fridge before you leave
Close the patio umbrella
Shut and lock all windows and doors (there are now 6 exterior doors including the overhead garage door)
Completely empty refrigerator
